In March 2020, we have developed a keen interest in watching the day-to-day activities of an eagle family nesting in Florida through a webcam livestream. Virtual presence. A desire to “Habiter en oiseau” [Live Like Birds] and enter into a dialogue with the territory. Actual presence. Birds activate our listening and their songs slip into our ears. Each passing moment stretches out like a sound fragment in a remote space, made from abstract sounds, breaths, and field recordings. We are within a twin space: sometimes inside, other times outside.

Commissioned Work by AVATAR for the album MARKERS — The world is being redefined; the signals of our civilization are crumbling. As conventional markers lose their meaning, we have to make new foghorns vibrate, light unexpected lanterns for an irrevocable world that cannot be turned back to the beginning. Avatar has selected twenty-five artists to create an audio work of 3 minutes in length around the notion of markers.

En mars 2020, nous avons observé au moyen d’une webcam le quotidien d’une famille d’aigles dont le nid se trouvait en Floride et pour laquelle nous avions développé un intérêt singulier. Présence virtuelle. Une envie d’ « Habiter en oiseau » et de dialoguer avec le territoire. Présence réelle. Les oiseaux ouvrent l’écoute et leurs chants glissent dans nos oreilles. L’instant qui passe est étiré comme un fragment sonore dans l’espace distant, fait de sons abstraits, de souffles et d’enregistrements de terrain. Nous sommes dans un espace double : à certains moments, intérieur et à d’autres moments, extérieur.

Commande d’œuvre d’AVATAR pour l'album REPÈRES — Le monde se redéfinit, la signalétique de notre civilisation s’effrite. Les repères conventionnels perdent de leurs sens; nous devons faire résonner de nouvelles cornes de brume, nous devons allumer d’étonnantes lanternes pour un monde irrévocable, qui ne peut être renvoyé à son point de départ. 25 artistes ont été choisis par Avatar pour créer une œuvre d’art sonore d’une durée de 3 minutes sur la notion de repères.
